FLASHDL version 1.00 Aug 1986
FLASH Batch Download DO File Generator
Written by Jinfu Chen in Personal Pascal
If you are using FLASH and do a lot of downloads from GEnie, this program is
for you. It will generate a FLASH DO file which can be used to automatically
dial into GEnie, move to file library and download files for you. After
finishing download, it will logoff by itself and save a log script called
GENIE.LOG.
This program is especially good to download those nth of m files such as
EMACS, FORTH, and some demo programs. Or you can specify a series of your
favor picture files and song files. You would be better off to have a file
list handy when running this program. File 753-757 contain file lists up to
file numer 700 or you can generate your own by selecting DIRECTORY OF ALL
LIBRARY from the menu in Atari ST Round Table Library (page 476).
To use the program is simple. It will first ask need help or not. If yes
you will read this file again. Then input GEnie access phone number,
GEnie login user ID, and password. You will have a chance to correct
typos. The next step is to input the file number of a file you want to down-
load and the file name. The file name doesn't need to be same as the one
in GEnie, it's the name you will store the file. If you have more than
one file to download, answer Yes to continue. You can have as many files
as possible provided you have enough space in the disk.
The DO file will be called GENIEDL.DO in drive A. You can use it in FLASH
terminal mode (the one without menu) by hitting <insert> key and typing
DO A:GENIEDL.DO. Then go off to watch TV or have a drink, your computer will
ring its bell three times when it is done, just to remind you to check the
programs you download.
I wrote this simply to try my Personal Pascal compiler and being tired of to
write a lengthy DO file for those programs broken into modules. This
project was done in the Labor Day without GEnie's manual (just sign-on last
week) and the user interface is quite simple. The next version will include
an option for CompuServe Atari16 SIG and maybe some GEM's whistles and
bells. If you have any suggestion, leave me an E-mail or call our BBS
MANIAC (207)854-2687.
Enjoy downloading.
